Roots in Avignon
Idioszanze was founded in 2015 by stylist Élodie Marchand and antiquaire Philippe Casson in a former textile dye-house on Rue des Teinturiers — a street named for the dyers who once coloured Provence's famous fabrics.
The studio name combines 'idios' (distinctive) with 'zanze' (a Provençal diminutive suggesting cherished detail). We believe every home deserves details worth cherishing.
Today our team of eight includes two textile specialists, a restoration consultant, and a horticultural stylist for garden-room projects.
Provincial Philosophy
Provincial style honours imperfection: the slight unevenness of hand-glazed pottery, the fade pattern on sun-exposed linen, the patina on a farmhouse table used for four generations.
We never deliver catalogue-perfect rooms. Instead we assemble spaces that feel collected over time — even when we complete them in a single season.
Sustainability is inherent: antique furniture restoration, local sourcing within 100 km, and natural fibres over synthetics.
Our Process
Projects begin with a home visit and lifestyle interview. We note how light moves, where family gathers, and which heirlooms must anchor the design.
Mood boards progress to sample boxes delivered to your door — touch and live with fabrics before committing. Installation is staged over days, not hours, to allow adjustment.
A styling manual accompanies every completed room: care instructions, supplier contacts, and seasonal refresh suggestions.
Artisan Network
We maintain relationships with forty-three regional artisans: potters in Moustiers, basket weavers in Vallabrègues, blacksmiths in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, and linen mills in Tarascon.
Clients may visit workshops on organised studio trips — experiences that deepen connection to objects in their homes.
